Each piece signed by Hanoia runs through a monthlong, even yearlong process. From making the base object to the application of 1st layer of lacquer, one small product must come through repetitive steps of lining, water sanding, coloring, color sanding, polishing… Special techniques such as eggshell inlay, engraving, hand painting, gold/silver leaf gilding…may be introduced in the function of the design.
