WHEN VIETNAMESE CRAFTMANSHIP MEETS THE ESSENCE OF FRENCH FRAGRANCE

Diptyque has recently launched the limited edition of Do Son fragrance, inspired by an emotional journey of Do Son, and in collaboration with Hanoia for Vietnamese craftsmanship through two exclusive box designs.

Vietnam has always been a special place in the roots and creative map of Diptyque. The fragrance of Đồ Sơn, created by Yves Coueslant, is a testimony to his love and nostalgia for this land. The delicate scent of tuberoses blends with jasmine, orange blossom, and the gentle sea breeze, providing a sensory experience for the owner. Chosen by Diptyque for our thorough understanding of traditional materials such as lacquer and rattan, skillful artisans in Hanoia’s workshop have created these masterpieces to elevate the stunning packaging of the Đồ Sơn fragrance.

The limited edition packaging is meticulously crafted through many steps such as painting, sanding, and polishing to bring an outstanding shine to the lacquer surface. Notably, align with Diptyque's minimalist oval design, a different concept of Đồ Sơn – deep black and enchanting – emerges vividly dedicated to engraving technique of Hanoia. Nestled inside the lacquered box is the 75ml limited edition of Đồ Sơn Eau de Parfum, highlighted with an embossed illustration in the characteristic vermilion lacquer, depicting the Vietnamese landscape as remembered by the artist.

Following the traditional weaving craft, interwoven lines of rattan create a rustic yet sophisticated feel for this edition. The candle lid design retains the original characteristics of the material, crafted exclusively by Hanoia artisans for the Tubéreuse scented candle. Adorned with soft yellow and deep red lacquer, the candle jar brings warmth to the home with a sweet and gentle fragrance of flowers.

Throughout its experiments, Hanoia has consistently embraced sustainability and aesthetic values, allowing owners to easily reuse the Diptyque Đồ Sơn boxes as unique decorative items in living spaces.

Not only with Diptyque, but Hanoia has also collaborated with many international artists such as artist Trần Nữ Yên Khê to create contemporary art pieces like Borderline, as well as with the artistic directors Agnès Poncet and Couli Jobert of Hermès, producing lacquer lamps inspired by the Art Deco movement. These collaborations reflect the brand's willingness to embrace influences from around the world, blending tradition and modernity, East and West, marking significant transformations for Hanoia in the global art scene.
