The lacquer technique itself serves as the core soul of each creation. Each design showcases a distinctive lacquer technique, revealing the complete and unique lacquer spirit of Hanoia. Through the practiced hands of the master artisan, those initial concepts slowly come to life. Each detail is treated with homage, ensuring each piece embodies a complete and meticulous form.      

Cosmos  

Cosmos takes on its distinct beauty, born from the fusion of countless hues 

Lacquer art is a voyage into the depths of concealed beauty, starting with the meticulous layering of multiple lacquer coats and culminating in a polished finish that reveals mesmerizing hues. Through just two essential techniques, Hanoia has brought the Cosmos to life with intricate colored dot motifs.    

No matter the setting, Cosmos is always an eye-catching focal point 

The process involves six distinct colors, each delicately applied in dots and allowed to dry fully before the next is added. The artist carefully regulates the paint’s quantity to ensure the colors blend harmoniously without overwhelming one another and must use the perfect tool for every detail. And so, Cosmos blooms—a unique dream painted layer by layer. 

Tissage

The refined art of hand weaving is subtly presented on the lacquer finish 

Lacquer also becomes a distinctive voice for other traditional crafts, artfully merging them. With creative motifs and harmonious color palettes, we transform antique beauty into a source of contemporary inspiration. 

Every detail is carefully crafted, creating a striking visual effect 

The delicate weave of bamboo and rattan, distinguished by its meticulously hand-tightened strands and seamless rhythmic patterns, exudes a unique charm. Hanoia channels this artisanal essence into modern creations within the Tissage product line. These "lacquered threads," painted by hand with varying thicknesses, echo the natural irregularity of hand-stripped bamboo and rattan fibers. This organic rhythm adds a distinctive touch, and when paired with a gradient technique, the strands seem to dance with light, creating a mesmerizing visual impression.

Artisans must exercise meticulous control over hand pressure to craft seamless, slender, and evenly spaced gradient lines. Each step reflects the remarkable skill and patience that define the timeless craftsmanship of traditional artistry. 

Monocle

Still the familiar detail, but Monocle puts on a new nuance, a nostalgic nuance in the moment of transition between day and night.    

For Lys Bui, her affection for Saigon transcends mere memories or emotions and is vividly brought to life through her work for the Monocle product line. This collection captures the essence of a bustling corner of the city as dusk sets in and deep green hues envelop the scene. Each finely engraved detail on the lacquer surface not only mirrors iconic landmarks but also evokes the city's vibrant sounds—the honking of vehicles, the chatter of bustling shops, and the dynamic rhythm of daily life. These seemingly ordinary elements stir a profound sense of nostalgia, artfully expressed through Monocle’s subtle and evocative design.
