HANOIA x PIERRE CHARRIÉ
A COLLABORATIVE COLLECTION: VIETNAMESE LACQUER ART MEETS FRENCH DESIGN

In the world of Hanoia, the art of lacquer knows no bounds, expanding even further through encounters with distinct creative minds. The collaboration between the Vietnamese craft house and French designer Pierre Charrié brings hitherto unimagined ideas to life.
Pierre Charrié is an artist who seeks inspiration by awakening his senses to the world around him. From materials and sounds to the subtle movements of daily life, everything becomes a spark for creation. Deeply attuned to his surroundings, these resonant experiences kindle a quiet beauty within him, giving rise to an endless flow of ideas.
As a co-creator, Hanoia worked alongside Pierre Charrié to refine concepts and develop bespoke techniques, seamlessly weaving the language of lacquer into every design. Inspired by The Metamorphosis of Life, the collection lends tangible form to intangible emotions, turning fleeting impressions into works of art that can be touched and experienced.
Vita
The silhouette of Vita evokes a bud waiting for the exact moment to burst into full bloom. The gradient technique is delicately handled by the artisans, with shades deepening at the rim and softening gently down the body. This transition not only adds depth to the color but also suggests a living entity quietly breathing and growing.

True to its name, Vita is the embodiment of vibrant life, where the flow of energy continuously circulates and thrives.
Becoming
The Becoming vase features a distinctive highlight at its stylized rim, a detail meticulously shaped and finished to create a smooth, graceful silhouette. A gentle gradient effect lends a graceful rhythm to the overall design.

Every transformation unfolds in quiet stillness, portraying a piece that is always progressing and constantly evolving.
Axis
Axis speaks a minimalist visual language, yet hidden behind it is a complex process of creation and assembly.

Every single piece of the vase must be cut with absolute precision to ensure a flawless connection for the whole. While the cuts achieve harmony in form, the color blocks retain their own distinct personalities, creating an engaging contrast. Here, the touch of red acts as a continuous thread, weaving these opposing tones into a vibrant and harmonious whole.
Prism
Like a challenging jigsaw puzzle, the Prism vase is built from lacquer pieces of various sizes and shapes. Each detail must be cut precisely for a perfect fit, as even the slightest misalignment can disrupt the entire structure.

Once the form is complete, the splendid lacquer colors begin to unveil their beauty. Enhanced by a gradient effect, the alternating arrangement of the pieces creates a sense of continuous motion, turning Prism into a lens that reflects living, ever-shifting shades.
Ondine
Ondine is the embodiment of a marine creature drifting gracefully in the water, yielding to a gentle flow that soothes the mind into a state of pure serenity. The true value of the design rests in its unique lacquer lampshade, which completely conceals the light source so that it only softly glows downward.

Thanks to a layer of silver leaf applied to the interior, the light reflects off the metallic surface, offering a soothing, relaxed ambiance that is radiant rather than faint. It is this very lampshade that utilizes a soft gradient technique to create a color-gradient effect, making the color bands appear as if they are gently in motion.
Bonbon
Bonbon calls to mind soft candies stacked playfully upon one another. The design applies a delicate gradient technique, creating a lively color-gradient effect across the surface. Beyond its visual charm, a sturdy, stable structure combined with a comfortable seating experience allows the stool to become an impressive centerpiece for any space.
