HANOIA AT THE "BAN THE" EXHIBITION
Hanoia at the "Bản Thể" Exhibition: A new experiment with lacquer to treasure femininity
A warm-hearted businesswoman with warm hands and a young Miss Universe first runner-up with a heart full of enthusiasm, both are inspirations for Hanoia to create impressive lacquer works at the “Bản Thể” Exhibition.
Love and Passion – The source of fuel for the enthusiasm of two women
Through the hand art piece, businesswoman Nguyen Thi Nhung wanted to tell the story of kindness, protection, and nurturing which are precious human qualities. For that woman, her hands were created values that she has devoted all her heart to contemplate and understand all living beings. On the career path and contemplative journey, she realized that each finger represents a core value that she has been searching for. Like an energy-giver, she considers keeping and sending the fire of love and passion as her life purpose, with her hands the contribution continues.
As opposed to the discrete and traditional look of businesswoman Nguyễn Thị Nhung, the way 1st Runner Up Thao Nhi Le expresses love and passion is youthful and liberal. In her life, love is the source of energy. Thao Nhi always cares for others and gives everything she has for those who are looking for love because she thinks: “Who will take care of the caregivers, who will love ourselves when we are in love with someone else? Maybe God created me to do that, it's like my life's purpose and I'm happy with that.”
The story of the two individuals seems to be opposites, but perhaps the fire of enthusiasm deep in their hearts is what connected them, letting them harmonize and become an inseparable whole.
The journey to light up the flame of harmony between traditional and modern beauty
With the desire to connect the traditional and modern beauty of two generations of Vietnamese women, Hanoia uses the red bold lacquer technique to highlight feminine beauty, making artworks becomes livelier.
The Red River texture is inspired by the color of the Red River water under brilliant sunlight. This texture uses a delicate gold leafing technique. This technique made Thao Nhi Le’s substance artwork showcase her femininity and fullest energy.
In another space, the bright red hue with orange in the middle palm makes the substance of businesswoman Nguyen Thi Nhung look from afar like a small burning flame. About this piece, Hanoia artisans said that orange is a symbol of sharing and passion, and the orange gradient detail refers to warmth from the heart. These are two strong and energetic colors that give the hands energy to devote all of the best things.
Hanoia's signature Red River texture was created from dyed silver leafing and extremely sophisticated color gradient techniques. These are the factors that highlight the homogenous relationship between the beauty of the two women that Hanoia wants to convey.
The carefulness and sophistication of each lacquer detail can only be done by skillful hands and the dedicated heart of the artist.
To make these two substances reach the highest standard, Hanoia's artisans show their excellent and sophisticated lacquer skills to create artistic artwork with magnificent stories. However, even the most skilled craftsman has difficulty highlighting the natural curve of human figures while crafting the lacquer on the bumpy surface of the body. Therefore, Hanoia entrusts artisan Vo Dong Ho, who has 35 years of experience working with lacquer, to create this art piece. After many layers and meticulous steps, this piece not only retains soft and delicate palm lines on the hand, and waistline but also makes it stand out with many layers of color.
The “Bản Thể” exhibition features lacquer technique and many iconic Hanoia textures that help create actual artworks that treasure femininity and convey messages of love to the public, Hanoia once again touched the hearts and made a strong visual impression on those who visit the exhibition.
