Vũ Kiều Linh
Vu Kieu Linh
Branding & Communication Director
Dynamic, independent and full of life, Vu Kieu Linh is considered as one of the most experienced communication experts in Vietnam thanks to her 20 years of experience at multinational corporations as well as some major local media agencies.
Passionate about reading, writing and especially travelling, Ms. Kieu Linh – born and raised in Hanoi, has had more than 15 years living and working in Saigon before returning to Hanoi just recently. Having set foot in more than 40 countries around the world with a wealth of precious feelings and experiences in each place, Ms. Kieu Linh found out newly that Vietnam has so much to take her by surprise where “I could keep exploring and never get bored here”.
Her can-not-leave-home-without things are not solely her phone, but a Bottega Veneta wallet, a Hermès lipstick, and fashionable Hanoia’s jewelry.
I always admire the women who know how to take control of their life.
With 20 years of experience working in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, Vu Kieu Linh – Brand and Communications Manager of IBM Group – is a dynamic, independent, and energetic woman. Eager to learn and having traveled to many places with many lessons learned after each trip, she believes that women today must learn to love themselves and know how to control their own lives.
Can you share the hardships as well as advantages of being in charge of communication and branding for a internationally renowned technology corporation as IBM?
Working in multinational corporations, the biggest advantage is that there is always a strict and complete procedure in place to comply, and there will be multi-dimensional supports from many different sources. But most importantly, one must know how to find those resources or ask for support at the right time and place. As for the biggest difficulty, personally, perhaps comes from the pressure to be the only person responsible for all branding and communication activities in Vietnam. Not having a partner often makes me overloaded with work while still having to ensure the completion of workload properly and fully.
How do you perceive the modern woman today? What is the thing or quality that impresses you the most in a modern woman?
One thing I really admire about the modern women around me is that even when they are busy with hundreds of thousands of unknown stuffs: family, work, social life, to countless other housework. But they still manage to look radiant and healthy, physically and mentally. They always know how to take care of themselves, be beautiful, fashionable, and charming.
I like to watch women with charisma, it is reflected in their eyes, laughter, posture, and even in steps they take. When seeing a woman, just by looking at their confidence, we can know that they are controlling the conversation and, more broadly, they have autonomy in work and life.

Do you have a role model in your life, or an idol in a certain field? Has the person influenced your life / decisions you made in the past?
I have close girl friends of many different ages: some are single, some married; some are romantic, some realistic. But they are all successful and unique in many aspects of their life. They are my source of energy, role model and inspiration, which is something I lean on. Role models and idols don’t necessarily have to be celebrities who can only be found in books and newspapers. These best girlfriends have a great influence on my life of every day.
It is known that one of your biggest passions is traveling. How many countries have you set foot on the world map so far? Which destination, according to you, is the most attractive?
Before, when I was by my side, I always had to move a lot because of work. Later, especially since my child becomes my companion, travelling is a passion for both of us. I cherish every moment of both happy, sad, and even scary during each trip.
Last year, due to Covid, travelling abroad was impossible, I spent more time travelling domestically. And strangely enough, Vietnam is the destination that I find most attractive. I have not spent a lot of time here, but the more I go, the more I love this land. So this year I will definitely invite my children to discover more our motherland.
What do the pleasures of travelling bring to your work and life?
Travelling helps me to be more flexible and active in my daily actions and thinking. Moreover, being an active traveler brings some positive habits such as being ready for unexpected situations, going out without looking at the map, being a remote tour guide for friends, often called “rice-fed GPS” because of the ability to remember the way …
Other than traveling, do you have any other favorite hobbies or activities? Are there any hobbies that help you balance your life with work?
I read and write a lot. Reading adds to the knowledge and understanding that I cannot acquire in work and life. I often read books about psychology, memoirs of famous people (politicians, businessmen, thinkers …) and books about successful lessons of countries around the world. Otherwise, I also like to record my thoughts, not in the form of a diary, but as scattered entries about the things I experience in my life, or personal memories, on some social media platforms, or for myself only. Reading and writing are not only job requirements but have long been a daily habit.
