HANOIA DESIGN CONTEST


Cherishing an ambition to revive Vietnamese cultural heritage in contemporary design, Hanoia – the leading haute-lacquer house in Vietnam has launched a Design Contest to seek for Vietnamese young talented designers in the field of applicable art in Hanoi around the subject “Tea, Art of living”.

Hanoia Design Contest” has been launched since April 18th 2017 for Students of Fine Arts colleges and universities in Hanoi. Each candidate will design a tea product on A1 paper that lacquer can be applied on and will have the chance to win prizes valued up to VND15,000,000. The prize works will be displayed at Hanoia House, 38 Hang Dao Dao and the award ceremony is scheduled on May 29th 2017. This contest is fully sponsored by Hanoia.


Dr. Dang Mai Anh – Vice-Principal of Hanoi University of Industrial Fine Art said: “We are honored to collaborate with Hanoia – a leading lacquer brand in Vietnam to launch this design contest. The topic of the contest is very close to Asian culture in general and Vietnamese people in particular, therefore, it will attract the attention of not only students but also professional designers. The School Managing Board and the teachers’ team of Traditional Fine Art Department will try their best to assist their students to complete their work“.


Mrs. Nguyen Thi Tuyet Thanh – Hanoia’s representative also shared: “Hanoia Design Contest’ aims at promoting young talented designers in the field of applicable art by giving them the opportunities to work closer with famous lacquer brand-names such as Hanoia. We also hope it will become an interesting encounter between young designers’ generation of Vietnam and European designer’s team of Hanoia in order to create a harmonious blend between East and West. Through this design contest, we wish to emphasize Hanoia’s spirit which is to honor Vietnamese craftsmanship of excellence while applying contemporary design to traditional products“.


Mrs. Elizabeth de Roquefeuil – Art Director of Hanoia and Mrs. Agnès Poncet – former Director of Hermès Accessories with join the jury together with teachers of Hanoi University of Industrial Fine Art.
